2022 National Collegiate Sales Challenge Quarter Finalist
Why Sales?
Sales is a process that is more complex than what meets the eye. Whether or not it is realized, the process of selling plays a hand in many aspects of our lives. The art of listening and understanding a persons desires, strategizing, and producing a solution that benefits both parties, solving or compromising on all problems is a skill—A skill that only few are given naturally, and many strive their whole lives to develop.
As I progressed through my collegiate career, I never quite recognized that I had the potential to cultivate this skill until one day seeing the quote “Every Job is a Sales Job” by Cindy McGovern. It was then that I realized that I exhibit the sales process each and every day during the various jobs and organziations I am involved in and in my courses. I started to research sales more in-depth and since then have developed a passion to learn more and a drive to become better. I am ecstatic to continue to grow and develop in sales and I strive to use the tools I learn to help others.
The UCF Professional Selling Program
The Professional Selling Program at the University of Central Florida is a distinguished program created to cultivate and enhance the sales skills of students. Only 35 students are accepted into the program each year, and I am extremely grateful to be in that number for the 2021-2022 school year. Students in the Professional Sales Program will complete extensive training, mentorship, and preparation to ultimately become the sales professionals of the future. The core curriculum for the program includes Professional Selling, Sales Force Management, Advanced Professional Selling, and Strategic Issues in Sales. Along with this, students also compete in Sales Competitions with other university sales programs all over the United States.
Sales Role Play(s)
SECURE DOG SALES ROLE PLAY
For the UCF Introduction to Professional Selling course, I played the role of a young entrepreneur who created a Security Service company in partnership with their uncle. We were only given the name of the company, a basic understanding of the service, and a small backstory about the creation of the company. All other materials and information shown is a compilation of my own ideas, including the logo design and other visual aids.
KC MASTERPIECE ROLE PLAY
In the same Introduction to Professional Sales course, I was given the role of a sales representative from KC Masterpiece meeting with a Safeway Grocery district manager to discuss adding the KC Masterpiece barbeque sauces to their shelves. In this roleplay, we were given the flavors and prices of the sauces and background information on KC Masterpiece. All additional information provided in the presentation, including all visual aids, were created by me.
